Community and stakeholder consultation

As a specialist provider for a relatively new migrant community to the United Kingdom it is important that TCHA remain in the cutting edge to understand the needs as well as aspirations of our community. This is what makes TCHA and the services we provide unique. In this Silver Jubilee year, we have launched a special initiative to reconnect strongly with the wider Tamil community including Tamil led voluntary and community groups with whom we have a very long association . We will be carrying out the consultation in partnership with Tamil Refugee Action Group (TRAG) from which TCHA evolved and became a specialist housing provider. The findings and the action plan that we develop will be published in summer 2012 .

 
2012 Undergraduate scholarship for the children of tenants

The need of the hour is we all dip our hands into our pockets and ensure the impact of funding cuts is minimised on the most marginalised of our society. This is why as part of TCHA's Silver Jubilee activity we are launching a 2012 undergraduate scholarship for the children of tenants who face economic hardship to enter the university . The scheme will begin with a fund of £5,000 in year 2012 and will be available for the children of TCHA who will be starting University in September 2012. Guidelines on how tenants could benefit from the scheme will be published in January 2012.

Mentoring programme for tenants

TCHA is launching a mentoring scheme for tenants particularly young people and have lined up a range of private sector providers from accounting firms to telecom companies to give work placement experience. The scheme will be formally rolled out in April 2012. Information about the scheme will be made available in TCHA and partner organisations websites from January 2012.
